WORKING HARD FOR A LIVING
A series of paintings addressing unrecognized hard working professions that are often misunderstood. It is no easy feat carrying a ton of itchy baskets down a steamy hot beach. Or working countless hours in farm fields. Or preparing fish at a fish market until your hands bleed.
I love to travel and often find inspiration in imagery abroad. As well as at home. I grew up in Argentina. This taught me the importance of traveling abroad, making the world cultures my education. This include all the cultures found right here in the United States. I grew up in Argentina, traveling Central and South America, falling in love with the people, the culture, and the landscape. Most of my time traveling is spent documenting 'information' with the use of digital cameras, digital sound recordings, sketchbooks, and note-taking — on any and all museum pamphlets and hand outs. I work in the mediums of oil paint, graphite, digital imaging, and mixed media. My favorite format is large scale; many pieces being composed on multiple panels ranging in size, with a total linear footage of 50 feet and more. Each painting is a classically painted portrait done in oil, paying particular attention to the archival classic techniques of paint transparencies, translucencies and opacities.
